During this period, it is common to encounter vehicle checkpoints on the routes, which aim to ensure road safety. It is important to know what the mandatory documents and safety elements that may be required at these checkpoints are.
In this regard, traffic inspectors or highway police have the authority to inspect vehicles based on the provisions of the National Traffic Law. They may require documentation such as the National Driver's License, ID, Green Card, mandatory insurance, among others. Additionally, they can inspect that the vehicle's safety elements are in good condition.
At vehicle checkpoints, both personal documentation of the driver and documentation pertaining to the vehicle being driven may be requested. It is important to carry a valid National Driver's License authorized for the vehicle, ID, Green Card, driver's permit in Mi Argentina (if not the owner of the vehicle), mandatory insurance, Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) or Mandatory Technical Review (RTO), as applicable.
Furthermore, it is essential to have certain mandatory safety elements in the car, such as a fire extinguisher with a current charge, portable warning lights, and snow chains in some provinces during the winter season. Although not mandatory, it is recommended to carry reflective vests, a first aid kit, a spare tire in good condition, a jack, and a wrench to ensure safety on the road.
