The projected inflation for February in Argentina varies according to different economic consultancies. While Orlando Ferreres & Associates estimates it at 2%, Analytica and Equilibra place the figure at 2.4%. The food sector was the main driver of inflation during the month, with an increase of 3.3%, mainly due to the rise in meat prices and, to a lesser extent, fruits. However, towards the end of February, a reduction in the rate of price increases in this sector was observed.
According to the index compiled by the consultancy LCG, food prices showed some stability in the last week of February, although the average monthly increase exceeded 3%, something not seen since July of last year. It is projected that the cost of living accelerated in February due to the rise in prices of meat, services, and beverages, which could lead to inflation surpassing the rates recorded in January.
Some consultancies estimate that the cost of living in February will be above the 2.2% recorded in January. In January, the monthly inflation was the lowest since July 2020, which placed the annual inflation at 84.5%. Various estimates have been presented, with C&T Economic Advisors projecting a 1.9% increase in February, the lowest since July 2020, while Fundación Libertad y Progreso estimated a rise of 2.3%, slightly above January, and Eco Go reported an increase of 2.7%. This reflects the diversity of projections regarding inflation in Argentina for the month of February.
