The renowned Argentine actor Héctor Alterio has died at the age of 96 in Madrid. With over 150 works to his name, he left a great legacy in the arts, and his passing has caused deep sorrow in the artistic community. According to the Argentine News Agency, the family of the actor officially announced the death through a heartfelt statement, although they did not disclose the cause. It was learned that he passed away in Madrid, the Spanish city where he had been residing for over 20 years. "With profound sorrow, we want to inform you that this morning, December 13, Héctor Alterio has left us. He passed away in peace after a long and full life dedicated to his family and his art, remaining professionally active until the very last day," the statement read. Earlier, the text announcing the sad news stated: "Rest in peace." The actor starred in "The Rebel Patagonia" in 1974, set in southern Argentina and centered on the executions of workers. Following this, and like many renowned artists, the actor had to go into exile in Spain during the civic-military dictatorship in 1975 after receiving death threats related to his participation in the film, which he used to consolidate his career in Europe. This period generated a wide range of television appearances, film roles, and stage performances for the actor, where he won awards such as the Goya, although he did not sever his ties with Argentina. One of his most significant stage titles was "Like 300 Years Ago," premiered in 1992, which was based on poetic texts and accompanied by live music. It was a one-man show that toured Argentina and Spain for over 25 years, with performances recorded even between 2018 and 2019, when Alterio was already in his 90s.
