American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez presented her film 'The Mother' on the first day of the Sundance independent film festival. The audience was greeted with warm applause. The film tells the story of two people sharing a single camera during the wartime dictatorship in Argentina in the 1970s.

"When I read the script, I thought that the role was exactly for me, that this was precisely that character, because of which I appeared on the screen," Lopez shared. The director of the film, based on a single Broadway musical, which was inspired by the novel of Argentine writer Manuel Puig, is Bill Condon.

Condon noted that Lopez's participation in the project played an important role in financing the film; however, he was confident that she was "the only person capable of carrying this role." The film also features actor Diego Luna, who portrays Valentino - a politician steadfastly adhering to his ideals while suffering harsh torture at the hands of the regime, yet refusing to reveal his revolutionary secrets.
