Argentina: Record Tourist Flow in January

Argentina concluded January with solid figures for its tourism sector, leaving a positive balance in terms of traveler movement, occupancy, and economic activity in the country's main destinations.

Córdoba was one of the main drivers of domestic tourism, receiving over 2.4 million visitors in January, 20% more than in the same period last year. In Patagonia, Bariloche and Dina Huapi recorded occupancy levels between 80% and 85%.

In the Buenos Aires province on the Atlantic Coast, high occupancy levels were registered, especially during the second half of the month. Pinamar reached an average of 85%, while Cariló hit 90% with full occupancy on some days.

In the Cuyo region, including Mendoza, over 300,000 tourists were recorded with an average occupancy of 60%. In San Juan, the provincial average was 62%, while Iglesia reached 90% boosted by local festivals.

In the north and Patagonia, performance was uneven but with notable peaks. Jujuy and Santiago del Estero averaged 60% occupancy, while Salta reached a general 50%, with peaks of up to 83% in destinations linked to festivals and events.

In the Litoral, Entre Ríos exceeded 2 million visitors with an average occupancy of 66%. Misiones maintained good performance with Iguazú at 82%. Neuquén grew by 8% year-on-year, with San Martín de los Andes at 83%.

'We closed January as a positive month for Argentine tourism,' said Laura Teruel, president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT), highlighting the key role of the joint 'Choose Argentina' promotion strategy.
