The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, emphasized the importance of deregulation policies in favor of small and medium enterprises and in the fight against corruption. According to the minister, deregulation is key to the future economic development of SMEs, as a freer economic environment eliminates entry barriers that often benefit large companies to the detriment of smaller ones.
As part of the AlUla Conference for Emerging Markets Economies, Sturzenegger participated in the panel "Productivity in EMDEs: Challenges and Opportunities." There, the growth prospects of emerging market economies were discussed along with the need to avoid excessive regulations that hinder the advancement of artificial intelligence, vital for global economic growth.
The minister stressed the importance of business freedom for development and mentioned cases like the regulation of maritime transport post-Collison in Baltimore, USA to highlight the relevance of maintaining an appropriate balance in regulations. Additionally, he pointed out the current demographic challenge and the global economic growth over the last two centuries.
The conference in Saudi Arabia brought together prominent leaders from emerging markets, including finance ministers, central bank presidents, and representatives from the public and private sectors, with the aim of discussing reforms and policies to promote inclusion and international cooperation. In this context, Sturzenegger debated strategies with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, focusing on the implementation of the IMF committee and the deregulation and state transformation tasks driven by the Argentine government.
