In 2005, I had to go dozens of times on behalf of the Secretariat of Human Rights to be allowed to see a file, vitiated by fraudulent acts, with forged fingerprints, fabricated in 'respected notaries'. I was able to see up close how those same officials received in their offices the lawyers of the powerful, those who came on behalf of, the sons of, the son-in-law of so-and-so, the father-in-law of that one, the cousin of such a deputy. It is easier to believe the speech of the usurping Mapuche than to scratch a little at the shell of lies that every day cover so much corruption with a veneer of legality. Chubut: Scandalous land delivery by the state to a former footballer, a fraudulent scheme against the Mapuche community in Gualjaina is denounced. In parallel, it was being spread that the former footballer and businessman Aldo Duscher had supposedly acquired occupation rights over lands of the Mapuche community in Gualjaina, and that the IAC, the body in charge of regulating the tenure of public lands, had granted him the necessary permits to appropriate 600 hectares for the paltry sum of 3.4 million pesos. A real brothel in the hands of lawyers, politicians, ranchers, merchants, opportunists, and racist officials who made their career and fortune licking the pockets of power. I was able to see up close that filth when I got involved in the defense of some land dispossession cases, such as that of Agustina Huentelaf and Carlos Currumil (yem), in the Gastre area. (At that same time I saw how the Duschers of Gualjaina joined the scam of the Ameghino Dam deals). I used as best I could the pages of the Diario Jornada newspaper, where I wrote, to denounce the dispossession machine that the IAC was and is. I saw the reports of those abuses and looting by the Public Lands Investigating Commission, which once dared to reveal the systematic theft and corruption that nests in the IAC. I regret to say that state prosecutors, even very 'progressive' ones like the late Patricio Romero, turned a blind eye to the irrefutable evidence of that Investigating Commission. I wrote about article 169 bis and the international treaties and the pain of Agustina Huentelaf, dispossessed of her land and thrown with her children onto the streets of Trelew. The Jornada Group, partners of the Duschers, simply cut off my tap and fired me. The teacher and researcher Jorge Spíndola, who in 2005 was part of the Provincial Secretariat of Human Rights and accompanied an investigating commission on the appropriation of lands, provides an account that testifies that the fraudulent maneuvers of the body are not new, but part of a practice that has been dragging on for years. The IAC stinks of rot. The history of dispossession is long. While in the entrance hall dozens and dozens of Mapuche compatriots waited for months to be attended. In the cold, in hunger, far from their homes, many times without knowing how to read or write, they were made to sign with their finger so many lies. Always difficult to dismantle, especially when we enter the logic of the Provincial State of Chubut and its bodies spawned and inhabited by corruption like the IAC. Of course, how were they going to water a parsley plant that dared to ventilate in its own pages the rotten smell coming from the IAC. I continue writing here, although I know perfectly well that very few people care about what I write. A few days ago, two scandalous events occurred that involved the arrest, on the same day, of two Mapuche references: Susana Martín and Eusebio Antieco.
Chubut Scandal: Fraudulent Land Scheme Against Mapuche Community
An investigation exposes a major corruption scheme in Chubut province, where the state sold Mapuche community land to a former footballist at a fraction of its value. A former official describes systemic abuses by authorities and the silence of law enforcement.
