The Chubut Justice has confirmed the sentence of a professor convicted of assaulting two teenagers at a school in the city of Trelew.
The first episode occurred at the beginning of 2015 in a school. A fourth-year electronics student was entering the classroom, and the teacher took the opportunity to approach her and grope her, according to the official website of the local Public Prosecutor's Office.
The second incident occurred on July 6, 2018, when a 13-year-old girl asked the teacher if she could do a school project during the break. The man refused, but with one hand he touched one of the victim's breasts and told her: "Or we can arrange it".
On April 21, 2023, Judge Mirta Moreno found the defendant criminally liable for the crime of simple sexual abuse, aggravated by being committed by a person in charge of education. She was found guilty of two counts in real concurrence as the perpetrator and was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
However, the defense of the culprit, identified by the initials J.O.G., appealed the decision to the Trelew Criminal Court, and in April 2024, the members of that court ratified the sentence but modified the amount to three years and six months.
Furthermore, the Superior Tribunal of Justice dismissed the extraordinary appeal filed against the conviction, which was confirmed last October, for which the intervening prosecutors ordered the arrest of the teacher, who must serve the sentence until April 6, 2029.
