
The governor of Chubut, Ignacio 'Nacho' Torres, emphasized the importance of the recent visit by the Director General of Customs (DGA), José Andrés Velis, to the province. During the visit, Velis and the authorities of the Provincial Cabinet discussed issues related to the regulation of the new Free Trade Zone in Trelew and toured the site where it will soon be operational.
According to the provincial leader, they are promoting the establishment of new investments, enhancing industrial activity, and generating quality employment in the region. The meeting in Rawson, convened by Governor Torres, aimed to advance the development and prompt launch of the Free Trade Zone.
During the event, a tour was also conducted of the area where one of the largest free trade zones in Argentina will be established. This new space aims to boost the industrial and commercial activity of the entire region, contributing to local economic development and attracting new investors.
The delegation, which included representatives from the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA), was received at the Official Residence of the provincial capital by several authorities, including the Minister of Economy and the Mayor of Trelew. Governor Torres highlighted the importance of the presence of the Director General of Customs in the province and the commitment to expedite the opening of the Free Trade Zone to strengthen the local economy.
Torres emphasized that the operation of this Free Trade Zone, which will occupy a large area, will improve the competitiveness of local products, facilitate exports, and attract new companies to the region. The governor underscored the relevance of having a large-scale free trade zone, the result of joint efforts between the state and the private sector to promote the economic growth of the province and the region.
In addition to benefiting the marketing of local products, the Trelew Free Trade Zone will reduce logistics costs, streamline administrative processes, and foster a more competitive environment for businesses, promoting local economic development and the arrival of new investors in sectors such as fishing, wool, cherries, metalworking, textiles, and food.
