Four partners of a private clinic in Salta, which used neonatal equipment stolen from the provincial public hospital, have been provisionally charged. They are linked to the Maternal and Child Public Hospital on suspicion of embezzlement. According to the Argentine News Agency and the Salta Provincial Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused were assisted by private lawyers. Three of them gave their version of the events, while one refused to make a statement, opting to do so in writing. On February 6, Judge Claudia Puertas ordered the partners of the company Neofenix S.R.L. to make six clinical devices available to the court within five business days. The involvement of the Complex Economic Crimes Unit came after a complaint was filed by the director of the public hospital regarding the missing equipment and other devices that had been provided on loan. As part of the investigation, it was determined that a full-time hospital doctor who works in the neonatology management area is also a founding partner of the company that runs the private clinic, whose purpose includes neonatal and pediatric practices. Prosecutor Ana Salinas, of the UDEC, requested a search of the company, and the six pieces of equipment were found in the services of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where they were installed and operational, providing vital support to hospitalized infants.
