Two Men Sentenced to Prison for Drug Transport in Salta

Two men have been sentenced to five years and eight months in prison for transporting 63 kilos of cocaine cut with an animal antiparasitic and caffeine in Salta. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA) and as indicated on the Fiscales.gob website, the sentence for the incident that occurred in September 2025 was handed down by Federal Judge Guillermo Elías, following an investigation carried out by the Transition Area of the Salta Fiscal Unit, led by Attorney General Carlos Martín Amad. Rubén Lupa Mamani and Eric González Delgado were found guilty of the crime of drug trafficking. Additionally, a vehicle was seized and the seized drugs, which had the potential to produce over 300,000 doses, were destroyed. Both defendants were arrested in September of last year when Lupa Mamani was driving a vehicle along a route at the Cabeza de Buey locality, a few kilometers from the city of General Güemes in Salta, and González Delgado was a passenger as they were heading towards the province of Buenos Aires. The crime was discovered during a routine check by National Gendarmerie personnel. The smell of glue emanating from the vehicle prompted them to conduct a more thorough search, leading to the discovery of 45 packages of cocaine hidden in the air conditioning unit area and another 18 bundles in the skirting board under the driver and passenger seats. Finally, they found a photograph of a man next to horse manure, a goat's leg, bracelets, and other items that they described as typical of some ritual.
