In Salta, Argentina, a man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing his daughter, who has a developmental delay, over several years while she was a minor. According to the Argentine News Agency and the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, the victim is now 18, and the abuse began when she was 12 or 13 years old, continuing until just before her mother filed a report. The victim's mother told the prosecutor's office that on April 2nd, she had an argument with her daughter after asking her to turn off her cell phone. When the daughter refused, her mother took the device and noticed sexually explicit stickers on her WhatsApp, which led the victim to confess to the abuse with penetration. The victim herself confirmed the facts during her testimony, stating that the accused had threatened her, saying her mother would throw him out of the house if she ever spoke up. During the trial, the prosecution argued that the man took advantage of the fact that the complainant was not at home and committed continued aggravated sexual abuse with penetration due to the family bond, guardianship, and cohabitation. The case was presented by prosecutor Ricardo Espilocín before the Court of the Judicial District Center. Judge Eduardo Sángari found the accused guilty and sentenced him to a prison term, also ordering the extraction of genetic material for the investigation.
