A powerful storm hit Salta, causing heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding. The southern part of the city has seen significant flooding, with damaged power lines and roofs. A weather alert is in effect until midnight.

A strong storm has hit the capital and surrounding areas in the province of Salta, with 17 millimeters of rain falling in just one hour. Wind gusts of up to 48 kilometers per hour were recorded, leading to power outages, hail, and flooding. According to the Argentine News Agency and as indicated by official sources, the southern Salta area was one of the most affected sectors, followed by the northern zone. As a result of the weather phenomenon, flooding was reported on some central streets. Likewise, large fallen branches, as well as fallen power and utility poles, were found, while several homes suffered water ingress and others showed damage from roof blow-offs. The meteorological alert remains in effect in the micro and macro center of the provincial capital, after the storm that began around three in the afternoon with temperatures over 31°C. And according to the local medium 'El Tribuno', the climate alarm will remain until midnight this Friday. The same medium indicated that 'one of the most compromised areas was the sector of the Esteco canal, where the accumulation of water generated serious inconveniences for neighbors and motorists'. However, the electricity service showed problems in the neighborhoods of La Viña, Coronel Moldes and surrounding areas. The Salta municipality recommended not throwing cans, bottles or other elements that can obstruct the public rainwater drainage system; not to take out the garbage bags and to secure elements that are in construction works, such as sheets, bricks or ties. Likewise, it was indicated to remove parked vehicles from flood-prone areas, drive at reduced speed and always with the lights on and to take extreme safety measures when driving.
