The justice system in Salta has ruled for the pretrial detention of a 37-year-old man accused of murdering an inmate at the Villa Las Rosas prison. Judge Antonio Pastrana of the Central District's Guarantee Court accepted the request from prosecutor Gabriel González of the Grave Attacks against Persons Unit to impose this measure, considering a prior similar incident. The murder of the 28-year-old inmate occurred on October 13 when he was stabbed in the neck during a confrontation at Penal Unit No. 1. The inmate died from hypovolemic shock, while the suspect for simple homicide was detained after being identified by witnesses.
