The governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, in an interview on the program "Cristina sin vueltas" conducted by Cristina Pérez on Radio Rivadavia, expressed his opinion on the political career of former president Cristina Kirchner. Sáenz stated that he believes Cristina Kirchner "has already had her chance" to lead the country and that, therefore, her cycle in Argentine politics has come to an end.
In his statements, the Salta official also hinted at the possibility of getting closer to La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and criticized the lack of renewal in the political sphere, pointing out that "when no one leaves, everyone stays, and this prevents a real renewal, unfortunately what is happening now happens."
Additionally, Gustavo Sáenz expressed his respect for the popular will and said he supports some measures of President Javier Milei's government in that regard. He clarified that he supports the government in what he considers necessary and that it is essential to provide civic tools for the government to fulfill its function.
When referring to his party alignments, the governor of Salta denied being linked to the Justicialist Party and mentioned that he represents a provincial front called Identidad Salteña, emphasizing his independence from national leaders. Sáenz indicated that his priority is to represent the people of Salta and that he will not make decisions that could harm them.
Regarding his position on the ruling party in an election year, Sáenz indicated that his focus is on defending the interests of the people of Salta and that he has no certainties about the political future. He highlighted that his party will support the implementation of the "clean slate" and the suspension of the PASO in Congress.
Finally, regarding the recent departure of the Argentine Government from the World Health Organization (WHO), the governor of Salta mentioned that he will issue an opinion once he clearly understands the arguments of the Executive Branch.
