The Minister of Security of Argentina, Patricia Bullrich, has taken measures to control the entry of cocaine from the Aguas Blancas border in Salta. Bullrich stated that this area is the most critical point for drug entry into the country and that it was necessary to act to stop this flow.
Bullrich explained that a 200-meter fence has been placed along the border and personnel from the police, the Naval Prefecture, and the Gendarmerie have been deployed to ensure safety in the region. The minister highlighted that these actions have significantly reduced the number of people crossing the border illegally, thereby strengthening control in the area.
The official also pointed out that before this intervention, the situation in Aguas Blancas was out of control, with organized crime gangs operating in the area and cases of violence associated with drug trafficking. Bullrich emphasized the importance of protecting the population and combating the illegal entry of drugs at this key border point.
Regarding the measures taken, Bullrich mentioned that the installation of the border fence was decided in collaboration with local authorities and the intervener of Aguas Blancas, Adrián Zigarán. The minister highlighted that this security plan has been effective in deterring offenders and ensuring order in the region.
In an interview, Bullrich stressed the need to control access to the city, mentioning cases of disorder related to drug trafficking, even stating that the city's mayor is involved in a drug trafficking investigation. These statements reflect the importance of the security measures implemented to combat this problem in the region.
