Buenos Aires, March 13 (NA) — The son of an evangelical church pastor will be tried for six cases of sexual abuse that occurred between 2018 and 2021, when one of the complainants was a minor, in Salta. The accused had previously been sentenced to three years of conditional prison for a similar crime. According to the Argentine News Agency and as indicated by the Salta Provincial Public Prosecutor's Office, the trial hearing began this Friday and will extend until next March 18. The first complaint was filed in April 2024 by an adult woman who claimed to have been a victim of sexual abuse between 2018 and 2021 by the son of the pastors of an evangelical church located in the city center. The same young woman stated that the first abuse would have occurred when she was 14 years old, inside a church van, which she agreed to board due to the trust she had in the accused, who served as a spiritual leader and was in charge of the Sunday school of the religious congregation. The accused had already been convicted in 2023 to three years in prison, conditionally, for the crime of sexual abuse with the exploitation of the victim's sexual immaturity (estupro) to the detriment of another minor.
Son of Evangelical Church Pastor to Stand Trial for Sexual Abuse in Salta
A trial has begun in Salta against the son of a pastor accused of six counts of sexual abuse. He was previously convicted for a similar crime against a minor. The first complaint was filed in April 2024.
