Buenos Aires, Feb 28 (NA) – Daniel Orlando Serapio, 40, accused of the femicide of Natalia Cruz, who reportedly died from blows and asphyxiation last February 17 in Salta, was detained after intensifying the search with a reward of $10 million for anyone who provides accurate information to locate him. According to the Argentine News Agency and as indicated by the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor of the Specialized Unit for Femicides (UFEM), Luján Sodero, reported that the apprehension was carried out and highlighted the collaboration of all the security forces that participated in the operation. Serapio had been at large since the incident occurred nine days ago in the Salta locality of Campo Quijano, in a house located at Manzana 79 in the Luz y Fuerza neighborhood, from where the man fled. Serapio left the place after killing his partner and confessing the aggression to his mother-in-law, telling her that they had had a strong argument and that during the fight he brutally beat her. The victim's mother was with Natalia Cruz's daughter, and minutes after opening the bedroom door, they found the 37-year-old woman lying on the floor and with almost no vital signs. In this context, a raid was carried out at a home in the Pipino Ferreyra neighborhood and a procedure was conducted on route 36. The case is in the hands of prosecutor No. 2 of the Unit of Grave Attacks against Persons, Gabriel González. Although she was transferred to the Francisco Herrera hospital in Campo Quijano, doctors confirmed her death. So far, the result of the autopsy has not been released, but the first reports indicate that she was beaten and asphyxiated. On the same day, several operations were carried out to try to locate Serapio.
