Buenos Aires, February 10 (NA) -- Bastián Jerez, the 8-year-old boy recovering nearly a month after a collision between a UTV and a Volkswagen Amarok truck in the coastal city of Pinamar, underwent his eighth surgery and the first at the Italian Hospital of San Justo. According to health sources close to the case reported to the Argentine News Agency, the minor underwent a 'drainage of abdominal fluid and valve replacement,' a procedure that concluded on the afternoon of this Tuesday, February 10. In a conversation with this medium, it was confirmed that the surgery was known to the medical teams from Mar del Plata and the Buenos Aires Aires hospital, and 'it was decided to do it in a destination that was already close to the family,' after the transfer from the coastal city. Bastián was transferred last February 9 from the Mar del Plata Maternity Hospital to the private clinic, as the destination 'was not just a rehabilitation center, but an institution that had high complexity because he would need both,' as he goes through recovery and also requires post-surgical care. The minor came out of the pharmacological coma last February 4, and his mother confirmed on social networks that he managed to recognize them, and that he was also able to make some expressions between smiles and gestures of anger to check his mobility. In the coastal locality, he underwent seven surgical interventions, and the recent transfer included a sanitary flight and concluded with a significant police deployment at the entrance of the hospital where he will remain in the Intensive Care Unit and then begin an extensive motor rehabilitation process.
