8-Year-Old Argentine Boy Injured in Crash to Be Operated Again

Buenos Aires, Feb 1 (NA) – Bastián Jerez, the 8-year-old boy who remains in serious condition due to an accident that occurred in the resort city of Pinamar, will be operated on again this Monday. Sources close to the boy's family confirmed this to Noticias Argentina agency and indicated that it will be the seventh operation after the serious crash that occurred in the first half of January in the La Frontera area of Pinamar. At the Provincial Maternal and Infant Hospital 'Victorio Tetamanti', where the boy remains hospitalized, are his mother, Macarena Collantes, and his father, Maximiliano Jerez. The family is waiting for Bastián to be stabilized so that he can be transferred to the Garrahan Hospital in the City of Buenos Aires.

The minor suffered serious injuries after the UTV in which he was traveling with his parents collided with a pickup truck in the Pinamar dunes area. As a result of the crash, he had to receive resuscitation maneuvers at the scene until he was transferred to the Municipal Hospital, where he is currently in serious condition and has been operated on six times.
