8-Year-Old Argentine Boy Successfully Transferred to Clinic After Accident

Buenos Aires, February 9 (NA) – Bastián Jerez, the 8-year-old boy who is recovering nearly a month after the collision between a UTV and a Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck in the coastal city of Pinamar, was successfully transferred to a private clinic in the Buenos Aires town of San Justo. Official sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the ambulance transporting the minor arrived at the Italian Hospital shortly after 14:20 following a sanitary flight that departed at 12:20 from Mar del Plata Airport and then landed at La Matanza aerodrome. The patient was accompanied by his mother, Macarena Collantes, while a doctor and a nurse also traveled on the aircraft, along with UTIM (Mobile Intensive Care Units) ambulances that provided ground support both at the origin and destination. After seven surgeries performed in the coastal town, the boy concluded his journey with a large-scale police operation at the hospital entrance, where he will remain in the Intensive Care Unit and then begin an extensive motor rehabilitation process. The boy came out of his medically induced coma on February 4, and his mother confirmed on social media that he was able to recognize his family and also managed to make some expressions, from smiles to anger, to check his mobility. In parallel to Bastian's recovery, the judicial case against the drivers and his father continues, with all three parties as defendants.
