Buenos Aires, Feb 2 (NA) – Bastián Jerez, the 8-year-old boy who remains in intensive care following the accident between a UTV and a Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck in the coastal city of Pinamar, has undergone his seventh surgery. According to the latest medical report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, “the external shunt was replaced with a ventriculopleural shunt.” The surgical intervention, whose outcome was “satisfactory,” was performed to “optimize the management of cerebrospinal fluid drainage.” Bastián received mechanical respiratory support and remained stable from clinical and hemodynamic parameters during his stay in the Intensive Care Unit of the “Victorio Tetamanti” Mother and Children's Hospital in Mar del Plata. Additionally, he is constantly monitored by interdisciplinary teams to analyze his clinical evolution.
