Car Theft Ring Dismantled in Argentina

A criminal ring dedicated to vehicle theft, their alteration, and subsequent sale was dismantled in the Buenos Aires area of Moreno, where the alleged leader of the organization and four other members were arrested. According to police sources, the operation was carried out by the Special Cases Department after an investigation revealed the existence of a criminal group that stole vehicles, altered them, and then offered them for sale through social networks. The suspects arranged meeting points in Moreno and neighboring areas. The investigation determined that the group was led by a 47-year-old man identified as Juan Carlos Chavero, alias "NN Chave", who was apprehended during a procedure coordinated with the intervening prosecutor's office. As part of the investigative tasks, officers carried out a "controlled purchase" of several vehicles with judicial approval and set up a surveillance operation at the intersection of Route 24 and Avenida Lamas, in the Cuartel V area. In this context, the police observed the arrival of the vehicles to be commercialized and proceeded to intercept them, identifying Chavero along with four other suspects, who were detained. During the procedure, a Toyota SW4 pickup truck with an active theft request from the Buenos Aires Police, a Suzuki Fun with a motor vehicle theft request requested by the UFIJ 7 of Moreno, and a Volkswagen Suran with a motor vehicle theft request requested by the UFIJ 1 of MorĂ³n were seized. The case is under the jurisdiction of UFIJ No. 1 of the Moreno Judicial Department, under the charge of prosecutor Leandro Ventrichelli, who authorized the arrests and the actions carried out by the police.
