Buenos Aires, January 30 (NA) – A moto-robber who shot a City of Buenos Aires police officer during a robbery in Moreno in March 2022 has been arrested. The victim survived, and an extensive investigation was conducted to apprehend the accused.

The incident occurred almost four years ago when the officer was traveling on his personal motorcycle. At the intersection of Eberth and Marchena streets in the locality of Cuartel V, Moreno, he was intercepted by two robbers on a motorcycle. There, both criminals boarded the officer with criminal intent. When he tried to resist, one of them shot him at point-blank range four times, hitting him in the chest.

After searching his belongings, the thieves stole his service weapon and then fled. Following the incident, the victim was urgently transported to a local hospital by the Moreno Patrol Command of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police, where doctors managed to save his life, confirmed the Argentine News Agency (NA).

From that day, a wide-ranging investigation began, which yielded a positive result in the last hours with the arrest of one of the accused for the crimes of attempted aggravated homicide, aggravated robbery with the use of a firearm, and serious injuries.

Initially, the investigation was delegated to the Buenos Aires Provincial Police by Instructional Unit No. 4 of the Moreno Judicial Department, led by Federico Soñora. However, due to a lack of results, it was entrusted last November to the Homicide Division of the Federal Police.

A piece of information that emerged during the investigation is that Wilson, one of the accused, was killed some time later during an armed confrontation when he also attempted to rob another police officer. With this information, Federal Police agents began field operations to locate the wanted man, establishing that "Ruchón", 24 years old, did not have a National Identity Document (DNI), for which reason he would have initiated a process to acquire a new one.

Based on this information, inquiries were made with the postal company to clarify the delivery address, establishing that it could not be completed because the address he had provided was non-existent. In this context, it was discovered that for the procedure, the accused had provided a cell phone number, which, after phone forensics, was found to belong to a woman, who would be the fugitive's partner.

"Once identified, various follow-ups were carried out, detecting that they had ended their relationship and that 'Ruchón' would be staying in alternative homes near his ex-partner's," they detailed.

With new field operations, it was established that the wanted man would not leave the Cuartel V area to avoid being discovered by security forces. For this reason, a "discreet and precise operation was carried out in the place, achieving the arrest of 'Ruchón' on Hipólito Vieytes Street at 1700, on the public road".
