Mariel Fernández, the head of the Moreno district, launched her candidacy for president of the Buenos Aires Justicialist Party (PJ) on Wednesday and assured that she is willing to participate in an eventual party leadership primary against the incumbent, Máximo Kirchner.
«I am going to be president of the Buenos Aires PJ,» affirmed the district head in the streaming show 'Uno Tres Cinco,' where she nonetheless expressed her desire for an agreement «among all» to avoid a showdown.
The vice president of the national PJ stated that if there is a primary, she is willing to participate and considered that the party must be a «tool for political construction.»
«If there are primaries, I want to participate, like any other leader,» she said.
When asked if she had expressed these ideas to the current party leader, she affirmed: «I always invite Máximo (Kirchner) to tour [the province], that is my proposal.»
«Today that does not happen, but not because of the party: they are historical processes, it is not about people,» she described.
«I think we need the party not to be an empty shell or a dispute element, but to be a tool for construction,» Fernández pointed out.
The district head said that Peronists need «a party that questions, tours, and listens a lot» to society.
