The Buenos Aires police arrested 15 people after a march in Moreno where a delivery man was murdered with seven stabs. Luis Benítez, the perpetrator of the crime, had a long criminal record that included thefts and attempts. Despite having been captured previously, Benítez regained his freedom on one occasion before committing the murder.
The Minister of Justice, Mariano Cáneo Libarona, criticized the Buenos Aires government for what he called 'Kirchnerist guarantees' and emphasized the need to combat crime. Friends and family of the victim protested in front of the Municipality of Moreno, which led to clashes with the police.
Javier Milei's government blamed Axel Kicillof for the crime, accusing him of repressing honest citizens while allowing criminals to go free. Additionally, the lack of funding was mentioned by provincial and local officials to finance security.
Benítez's criminal record includes charges of damage, attempted robbery, and attempted murder over the years. Although the government has not made direct statements on the matter, provincial officials have pointed out the lack of funding as an obstacle to addressing the issue of insecurity in the region.
