A Hero in Moreno: Lucas Aguilar

A street vendor was attacked with a knife but survived thanks to the brave act of a young man named Lucas. The president announced the creation of the Common Man Valor Medal in honor of Lucas, who lost his life defending a stranger.

The president emphasized Lucas's bravery, noting that he sacrificed his life to protect another. Moreover, he announced that the first person to receive this medal posthumously will be Lucas Aguilar. The president lamented the tragic death of Aguilar, 20, who received seven stab wounds from an assailant identified as Luis Benjamín Benítez, who is already in custody.

The incident began with an argument between the assailant and a street vendor, at which point Lucas intervened to protect the merchant. Unfortunately, Benítez fatally stabbed Lucas while he was trying to stop him. The vendor, Leonardo Ernesto Merollo, 32, was also injured in the attack and is receiving treatment for wounds suffered in the chest and abdomen.

The president expressed his admiration for the courage shown by Lucas, calling him a hero and a source of inspiration for the community. He criticized the lack of security in the region, pointing out the ineffectiveness of local authorities in addressing the growing wave of crime.
