Young Delinquent Arrested After String of Violent Crimes

After being captured by the Police in an operation in Moreno upon returning from his vacation in Villa Gesell, Masqueroni Menta, a 20-year-old young man, ended a nearly two-year period as a fugitive after committing the murder of a man during a gunfight at a party in the neighborhood "Moreno 2000". On that occasion, Lucas Benitez died from multiple gunshots to the body.

Witnesses identified Menta as the shooter, who led a group of minors dedicated to stealing cars and motorcycles in the western area. He was attributed with more than 300 thefts in various localities between 2020 and 2023, activities he performed for "pleasure and adrenaline". Despite coming from a wealthy family, he enjoyed manipulating weapons and exercising control over others.

After being on the justice's radar and facing an arrest warrant for aggravated homicide, Masqueroni continued with his criminal operations. Following an accident in which an accomplice died, and another incident involving a shooting where a person was seriously injured, he was finally arrested on January 16.

In an initial statement before the Justice, the young man refused to speak or defend himself. The prosecution requested his preventive detention and it is expected that the case will go to trial in the coming weeks.
