Armed Robbery in Moreno Ends with Hostages

Four criminals were arrested after breaking into a house in the Buenos Aires locality of Moreno and taking an 11-year-old girl hostage. The incident culminated in a shootout between the thieves and the police, resulting in the capture of three of them, while one managed to escape and remains at large.

According to police sources informed by the Argentine News Agency, the incident occurred last Thursday when the four criminals assaulted a neighbor in the La Gloria neighborhood, threatening him with firearms and taking money, appliances, and his Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck in an attempt to escape. Two of the thieves abandoned the vehicle and entered a house, from where they shot at police officers.

After a lockdown operation, the criminals were identified as Ernesto Mario Sánchez, 32 years old, and Miguel Ángel Ferreyra, 42, and were arrested. A third robber took refuge in another house in the Villanueva de Trujui neighborhood, where he remains under medical observation in serious condition. The police managed to recover the stolen items and found two vehicles, a Volkswagen Gol and a Fiat Palio, which were presumably used by the thieves.

The case is under the responsibility of the Functional Instruction Unit No. 6 of Moreno. One of the criminals, identified as Denis Gabriel Tello, 25 years old, before attempting to flee, took the 11-year-old girl as a hostage. During the confrontation with the police, Tello shot at a commissioner and tried to escape with the minor; however, he ultimately released the girl and was arrested after an officer shot him in the right arm and left thigh.

After being taken to a hospital and undergoing surgery due to the severity of his injuries, Denis Gabriel Tello is now in police custody.
