
On Thursday afternoon, a crime occurred in the Buenos Aires town of Moreno, where a man attacked and stabbed a street vendor after a dispute in public. The situation escalated when the attacker fled and continued his assault, also injuring a delivery person. Several neighbors began a chase after the attacker, who ultimately stabbed the victim seven times, causing his death.
The assaulted merchant, identified as Leonardo Ernesto Merollo, 32 years old, is in serious condition after receiving two stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. The aggressor, Luis BenjamĂn BenĂtez, 38 years old and with a criminal record, was arrested after the incident. The Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) number 4 of Moreno of the Judicial Department of Moreno-General RodrĂguez is handling the case, which has been classified as aggravated homicide in real competition with attempted simple homicide.
The young man murdered, Lucas Aguilar, 20 years old, had expressed his concern about insecurity in the area in a note prior to the attack. In statements to a local media outlet, he mentioned having been a victim of robberies several times while working as a delivery person. The security camera recorded the moment of the terrible crime, which took place at the intersection of Asconapé and Alem streets, where Aguilar was stabbed seven times.
