The member of Boca's Football Council, Mauricio Serna, expressed his enthusiasm about the possibility of Colombian midfielder James Rodríguez joining the team in the future. In an interview with Radio Caracol in Colombia, Serna mentioned that it would be a dream to have a player of James's caliber at Boca and admitted that he has already tried to convince him.
"I would love to have a player like him at Boca. Also Jhon Arias, whom we faced with Fluminense, but he is surely one step away from Europe," said Serna. The speculation about James Rodríguez's arrival at the Argentine club does not seem far-fetched, as he currently does not get much playing time at Rayo Vallecano, which could pave the way for a change of scenery.
"Yesterday I pressed him a little, telling him to wear the number 10 once. On social media, people were telling me why I didn't kidnap him at the training ground, and I wanted to leave him here, but I know there are two important commitments against Uruguay and Ecuador," commented Serna, laughing.
In addition to James, Serna mentioned other Colombian players he would like to see at Boca, such as Jefferson Lerma, highlighting his quality as a footballer. The Colombian National Team trained at Boca's training ground in Ezeiza, looking ahead to the upcoming match against Uruguay in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The former midfielder made it clear that he has tried to persuade James several times to join the xeneize team and expressed his admiration for the player's performance in the Copa América and with the Colombian National Team. "I would give everything for James to wear the Boca jersey. Because competing becomes impossible for us," he concluded. Serna also admitted that bringing in a player who plays in Brazil would be more feasible, but he emphasized that having James on the team would be a dream.
