Fire in Ezeiza Industrial Park

Gastón Granados, the mayor of Ezeiza, provided an updated report on the major fire that affected an industrial park in the municipality, highlighting that the fire, which impacted nearly "ten industries," is "under control" though not fully extinguished.

He also informed that the Ezeiza-Cañuelas highway, which had been cut off by smoke, "is already being restored." The current top priority is to complete the extinguishing work: "Now we have ahead of us, to put out the fire, to properly put out the fire."

Granados specified that all 12 people who were admitted to the Ezeiza Hospital have been discharged. The vast majority were hospitalized due to respiratory problems caused by inhaling carbon monoxide from the combustion of tires at one of the factories.

The mayor also referred to the serious economic consequences: "practically nothing is left" for the companies, so they have already contacted the governor and the Minister of Production to "assist the industries" and "see how we can give them a hand."

Regarding the health situation, Granados confirmed that "there are no more injured, no one remains in our hospital." Although some were transferred to other clinics for studies, he assured that "none had been taken anywhere with serious injuries or any risk to their health."

The explosion and fire in Ezeiza do not pose a serious risk to the population. Regarding the environmental and traffic impact, the mayor indicated that while there is "a lot of smoke" from burning tires, "there is no problem for the neighbors, for those of us who live in the vicinity."

Granados acknowledged the "significant number of fire crews" that arrived from various points in the province, along with "a strong presence from the Ministry of Security," which allowed the fire to be contained.
