Explosion at Industrial Park in Ezeiza

The mayor of Ezeiza, Gastón Granados, confirmed this Friday night that one of the warehouses affected by the violent explosion and fire at the Spegazzini Industrial Park belongs to Iron Mountain, the company at the center of the tragic intentional arson in Barracas in 2014. According to Noticias Argentinas, in an interview with channel A24, Granados detailed that the fire affected several closed companies, including a tire company, the agrochemical where the fire originated, a plastic packaging company, and "a paper company". When asked if that paper company was Iron Mountain, the mayor answered affirmatively. Among the missing documents were boxes from the HSBC bank and from Sideco, the company of Franco Macri. "Yes, they recently moved a warehouse to that industrial park," Granados assured, who also mentioned that the company is in charge of "the archiving of public administration documents". The company's name became notorious due to the tragedy in Barracas, which occurred on February 5, 2014, when a fire in its warehouse (which judicial investigations confirmed was intentional) caused the death of ten people, including firefighters and rescuers. That fire generated enormous controversy and a judicial investigation, as the fire was presumably intended to eliminate sensitive documents from 600 companies. For that fact, 18 people, including executives and former Buenos Aires officials, were sent to oral trial. Due to tonight's explosion in Ezeiza, at least 15 lightly injured people were transferred to health centers. The authorities of Ezeiza, La Matanza, and Esteban Echeverría asked neighbors to close doors and windows due to the toxic smoke.
