The Federal Justice of Corrientes has ordered the lifting of tax and banking secrecy for former governor Ricardo Horacio Colombi as part of an investigation for alleged illicit enrichment, aggravated evasion, ideological falsehood, abuse of authority, and illicit association. The decision was made by Federal Court No. 2 of Corrientes, presided over by Judge Juan Carlos Vallejos, and also affects Hernán Marcelo Laslo and María Helena Hadad, who are indicated as possible frontmen for Colombi in irregular real estate maneuvers.
The measure will allow access to the financial and asset movements of those involved, following a long delay in the case, which was reactivated due to a ruling from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. The Court overturned a decision from the Paso de los Libres Court, which had attempted to transfer the case to provincial jurisdiction. According to the complaint, two properties were allegedly acquired between 2006 and 2007 through maneuvers of simulated donation in the names of Laslo and Hadad, but for the benefit of the former provincial governor.
The investigation is also connected to the case involving the illegal financial entity Pyramis, which is under scrutiny for the current president of the provincial Chamber of Deputies, Pedro Cassani, and his son, following the discovery of funds in their names during judicial raids. The prosecution and the Public Prosecutor's Office for Administrative Investigations maintain that the properties were acquired with funds of dubious origin, potentially constituting crimes of money laundering, aggravated tax evasion, and illicit enrichment.
