Buenos Aires, December 22 (NA) – The nanny of María Victoria Caillava, one of those detained for the alleged abduction and concealment of Loan Danilo Peña, the 5-year-old boy who has been missing since 2024, will testify this Tuesday before Federal Judge Cristina Pozzer Penzo. Sources in the case informed the Argentine News Agency that María Regina Escobar, the wife of Jorge Luciano Bertón, will appear from 7:30 in the province of Corrientes. The woman was scheduled to testify on Thursday, December 18, but the hearing was suspended because she “was in the field” and “was late”. Personnel from the Goya Federal Operational Unit Division notified the witness, residing in the locality of 9 de Julio, San Roque Department, to appear half an hour before the start of her testimony, and she was “warned that she would be escorted by public force in case of unjustified non-attendance (Article 154 of the National Criminal Procedure Code)”, states the document accessed by NA. The complainants had requested that the woman be called to testify, indicating in a document that “Bertón” stated that “Escobar was the first to tell him about the disappearance of the victim (through a WhatsApp status from a neighbor), and that they were together in the field harvesting zucchini on Thursday, June 13”. In this sense, “it also states that his wife accompanied him to the field 'La Florida' from 8 to 12 and then in the afternoon from 16:30 to 20:30/21:00 and that even participated with him in the transport of animals, a circumstance that she could confirm or refute”, the text adds.

The trial On February 27, 2026, at 9:30, the first of several preliminary hearings aimed at presenting requests from the defenses, designation of the evidence presented and the witnesses will take place. In turn, the Federal Oral Court of Corrientes ordered “to accumulate files FCT 2157/2024/TO1 and FCT 2157/2024/TO2”, for which reason there will be 17 accused who go to oral trial. Seven of the accused are charged with the abduction and concealment of the child: Laudelina Peña (Loan's aunt), María Victoria Caillava and her husband Carlos Guido Pérez, Bernardino Antonio Benítez, Daniel Oscar “Fierrito” Ramírez and his partner Mónica del Carmen Millapi, and Commissioner Walter Adrián Maciel.

While another 10 are accused of various crimes, including tampering with testimonies, hindering the investigation and defrauding the public administration.
