The governor of Corrientes, Gustavo Valdés, inaugurated the regular session period of the provincial Legislature summarizing his seven years of management. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling commitments by the national government and the fundamental role of politics as a tool for social transformation. In his speech, Valdés highlighted democracy and politics as central axes of social change and reviewed the pillars of his management: development, modernization, and inclusion. He underscored achievements such as the fiscal surplus, debt reduction, and tax cuts, results of the Strategic Participatory Plan Corrientes 2030. The governor mentioned the creation of a Counter-Cyclical Fund to address the pandemic, droughts, and fires, as well as defending the purchasing power of public employees and the equitable distribution of resources to municipalities regardless of political affiliation. In terms of infrastructure, Valdés highlighted advances such as the implementation of fiber optics by TelCo and the construction of a new prison in San Cayetano, a project that will transform the old prison in the capital into a cultural and commercial hub. Additionally, the governor expressed his concern about delays in key national projects, such as Highway 12 and the wastewater treatment plant in the capital. He demanded that national authorities move forward on these projects for the benefit of the province.
