Argentine Police Present Estimated Image of Missing Child

Buenos Aires, Jan 17 (NA) — A technical report from the Argentine Federal Police presented an age progression of Loan Danilo Peña, the boy who disappeared in June 2024 in Corrientes, with the aim of estimating how he might look today. According to the official report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the work was carried out by the Criminal Identification Division and elevated to the Federal Court of Goya, within the framework of the case investigating his disappearance. This is what Loan might look like at six years old. Photo: Federal Police. The image update was in charge of First Sergeant Yani Rubén Coronel, an expert in forensic art, who used photographs of the minor and his direct relatives to identify aging patterns. The report stated that “it is desirable to have or access as many photos as possible of both the missing person and their closest relatives,” as this material allows for a more precise comparative morphological study. In this way, the specialist created an estimated image using graphic editing software and a digital tablet, taking into account that the period elapsed since the disappearance is approximately a year and a half. Therefore, it is a stage in which “there is still a certain stability of the physiognomy without so many changes,” although he warned that multiple external and internal factors that can modify a person's face, such as blows, climate, or surgeries, are outside the analysis. Finally, the Federal Police emphasized that the result obtained “is nothing more than a hypothesis,” so the work must be considered “closer to an artistic development than to a scientific study.” The sketches have already been sent digitally to the judicial authorities and national person search organizations.
