Luis Juez has decided to resign from the presidency of the PRO bloc in the Senate and now aims for the candidacy for governor of Córdoba in a possible alliance with Milei. Juez justified his departure as the completion of a cycle, denying rumors that involved him in other political projects.
In his place, Senator Alfredo De Angeli from Entre Ríos will be proclaimed as the new president of the PRO bloc of the Upper Chamber, with Martín Goerling Lara from Misiones as vice president. Juez has planned a meeting with former president Mauricio Macri to inform him of his decision to step aside and propose De Angeli as his successor.
De Angeli stated that he will defend institutionalism, democracy, and the republic from his role in the PRO and assured that there will be debates within the party and with the deputies to validate decisions. Regarding the 2024 Budget and the eventual elimination of the PASO, the senator expressed the importance of reaching agreements for the benefit of the population and defended the party's banners, such as the clean slate and the Anti-Mafia Law.
In a previous interview, Luis Juez explained that he felt "disauthorized" and that is why he made the determination to leave the leadership of the PRO bloc. The leadership handover meeting was attended by all eight members of the bloc, where the change of command was decided.
