
A tragic explosion shook the town of Villa María in Córdoba, caused by the detonation of a gas pipeline that triggered a fire. Five people were injured in the incident, and several houses were damaged. Residents of nearby neighborhoods have expressed their concern about the possibility of further explosions, labeling the event as a "total impressive disaster".
In total, three houses were affected, one of which was completely destroyed. The most affected residence was inhabited by a family of five members who suffered serious injuries. The injured include two men aged 48 and 18, two women aged 45 and 15, along with a 12-year-old boy. They were transported to different health centers for treatment. The two men were taken to the Burn Institute in Córdoba city, while the women and the child were referred to Pasteur Hospital.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon near provincial route 2, between the access to Villa María and the Military Powder and Explosives Factory. According to witnesses, a backhoe caused damage to the pipeline, leading to a gas leak that fueled the flames. Fortunately, firefighters were able to control and extinguish the fire.
All those affected have burns of varying severity, raising concerns in the local community regarding the safety of the facilities and the possibility of future similar incidents.
