Engineer Francisco Luperi, who uncovered the deaths of babies in the Neonatal Hospital of Córdoba, appeared in the jury trial marking a milestone in the development of the debate. Facing as the main accused nurse Brenda Agüero and 10 other former officials, the day Luperi provided his testimony before the Court and the jury was crucial after the emotional testimonies of the mothers of the deceased and surviving babies.

In July 2022, Luperi alerted judicial authorities about the irregularities that occurred between March and June in the public hospital. After the investigation, it was confirmed that five newborns lost their lives and eight others survived the administration of a potassium and insulin injection. The engineer, husband of a doctor at the facility, Virginia Zamora, revealed that they both began to notice irregular mortality rates among the babies, which is why they decided to file the complaint.
The District Attorney's Office No. 3, led by Raúl Garzón, conducted a thorough investigation that resulted in the indictment of nurse Brenda Agüero for the improper administration of substances that caused the deaths of five newborns and put the lives of eight others at risk. Additionally, 10 other former officials, including the former director of the Neonatal, Liliana Asís, and the former provincial Minister of Health, Diego Hernán Cardozo, face accusations in this scandalous case.
