The employees of the Leysa printing company have taken over the company's plant after the Ministry of Labor issued mandatory mediation, which ended without agreements. "We decided to take the plant because the company is determined not to pay us 100% of the severance packages," the workers stated in interviews with the news channel Crónica TV.
The factory, which covers around 5,000 square meters, is engaged in printing activities and houses a large amount of supplies. Unlike previous conflicts in the industry, in this case, the company's decision is to stop producing in the country to become an importer of the same products it used to manufacture locally.
The employees, totaling 45 dismissed workers, are in the midst of a labor conflict that began on October 8 and has now seen the deadline for mandatory mediation expire without any agreement. "This is to safeguard our assets," the workers highlighted regarding the reason for occupying the factory.
The situation unfolds in Villa Martelli, Buenos Aires province; there the printing company intends to dismiss its staff offering them only 50% of the severance packages they are legally entitled to. In light of this situation, the employees have decided to remain in the plant's facilities to prevent the company from emptying the location.
