Zulema María Eva Menem, daughter of former president Carlos Menem, responded to former president Cristina Kirchner to clarify that at the time of her father's death, he did not have any firm convictions. Zulemita's comment came after Kirchner complained about the revocation of her pension by the government of Javier Milei, while Menem's pension remains active, despite facing various legal cases in the past.
In response to Cristina's criticisms on social media, Zulema clarified that there were no firm convictions against her father at the time of his death, which justifies that her mother, Zulema Yoma, continues to receive the pension. Despite their divorce in the early 1990s, Zulema Yoma receives a significant pension due to Menem's presidential terms from 1989 to 1995 and then from 1995 to 1999.
"Ask Martín Menem, your President of the National Chamber of Deputies, why aunt Zulema, widow of Carlos Menem, receives the same pension, who left this world with criminal cases regarding arms trafficking, additional salaries of officials, and other matters, some even condemned in second instance," Cristina had written, expressing her discomfort with the difference in the treatment of pensions.
