The newly appointed Argentine ambassador to the United States, Alec Oxenford, had his first official event as a diplomat by attending a dinner alongside his American counterpart, Marc Stanley. The meeting took place at the residence of the U.S. ambassador, where Oxenford received a warm welcome for his appointment.
"Yesterday I had the honor of being invited by the ambassador of the United States to his residence, where I received a warm congratulation for my appointment as Argentine Ambassador to the U.S.," Oxenford mentioned on his social media. He also highlighted that they have an ambitious work agenda planned for the benefit of Argentines and Americans.
In line with the directives of President Javier Milei, Oxenford emphasized the importance of the alliance between Argentina, the United States, and Israel as a force that unites common values and objectives towards a future of peace and prosperity.
Alec Oxenford, founder of the fintech OLX, is part of the Economic Advisory Council led by Demian Reidel and is also a member of the select group of influential businessmen known as the "M Group," named after the initial of the president's surname. This group has supported Milei's political career since its beginnings.
Although he lacks prior diplomatic experience, Oxenford was selected to succeed Gerardo Werthein in Washington after the latter assumed the position in the Ministry of International Relations, Foreign Trade, and Worship following the controversial departure of Diana Mondino.
