Argentina Reaffirms Sovereignty over the Falklands

The Argentine government expressed its concern through a note to the United Kingdom Embassy in Buenos Aires regarding the presence of British military aircraft in neighboring countries. The Argentine Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the country's determination to defend its sovereign rights over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands, and the surrounding maritime areas.

Gerardo Werthein, who led the communication with the British government, highlighted Argentina's willingness for constructive dialogue within the framework of international law to find a fair, peaceful, and definitive solution. The South American country made clear its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the dispute with the United Kingdom.

The presence of five Eurofighter Typhoon jets, an Airbus A400M, and a Voyager Airbus 330 KC2 from the Royal Air Force of Great Britain at Galeão Air Base in Rio de Janeiro generated concern in the Argentine government. The aircraft arrived last Friday and remained at the base until midnight on Saturday.

In light of this situation, the Argentine government requested reports from the relevant authorities about the presence of British military aircraft in neighboring countries. The Argentine Foreign Ministry reiterated its position of defending Argentina's sovereignty over the disputed islands and reaffirmed its call for a peaceful solution to the conflict with the United Kingdom.
