Court Rejects Governor's Request to Postpone PJ Elections

Federal judge María Servini rejected the request of the governor of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, to postpone the internal election of the Justicialist Party (PJ). The judge supported the decision of the party's Electoral Board, which challenged the list "Federales, un grito de corazón" due to irregularities in its submission.

Only the list headed by two-time president Cristina Kirchner was validated, who is set to assume the party leadership on November 17. Despite the appeal submitted by the representatives of Ricardo Quintela's list, the Justice supported the arguments of the Electoral Board to invalidate the candidacy.

In a document, the representatives Jorge Yoma, Daniel Llermanos, and Sandra Vanni questioned the insufficient grounds and the invalidity of the observations made by the Electoral Board. However, Judge María Servini confirmed the validity of the reasons presented by the party body.

The situation is expected to unfold further in the coming days as the date of Cristina Kirchner's assumption as leader of the Justicialist Party approaches.
