The Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA) has been criticized for systematically denouncing anyone who expresses criticism towards the State of Israel, often accusing them of trivializing concepts such as anti-Semitism or collective violence. In an ironic twist, the complaint for 'Incitement to collective violence' was filed by the same lawyer defending four youths arrested for shooting at homeless people in April.
In addition to the media attacks, this legal complaint was filed by lawyer Alejandro Sánchez Kalbermatten, accusing the individual of 'instigation to terrorism,' and by former DAIA vice president Alejandro Broitman, for 'apology of crime, incitement to collective violence, and acts of discrimination.' However, Judge Sebastián Ramos, in charge of the case, dismissed this presentation, indicating a lack of solid arguments and suggesting an intention to censor opinions sympathetic to the Palestinian people or criticisms of Israel.
The same DAIA lawyer, Alejandro Broitman, was the one who filed the criminal complaint for 'incitement to collective violence' two days after the institution's president publicly announced it. This complaint, which did not gain much media attention, investigated possible connections of violence with other individuals linked to the DAIA. All of this takes place in a context where parts of an actor's speech were silenced during an event, where he expressed his solidarity with the people of Gaza and criticized the violence suffered in the region.
The actor in question was attacked for his statements, being accused of inciting collective violence. However, Judge Ramos dismissed these accusations, arguing that the complainant's membership in the Jewish community does not automatically grant him the role of prosecutor, and that the corresponding procedural requirements must be met. It is important to highlight that the Guild Association of Lawyers is in charge of defending the Argentine actor, who received a Martín Fierro Award and found himself embroiled in this controversy for expressing his solidarity with Gaza.
These events demonstrate a recurring situation where the DAIA denounces criticisms towards Israel, provoking judicial and media controversies.
