Defense Minister Luis Petri has proposed the creation of a Bachelor's degree in National Defense, which would be in-person and include field activities to provide deep and practical training in the Armed Forces. This initiative is part of the promotion of three new programs by the National Defense University (UNDEF), aiming to strengthen university training in defense and public management.
Among the proposed new programs are the Bachelor's degree in Cyber Defense, which will focus on preserving the critical information infrastructure of the National Defense System from the perspective of national sovereignty. Additionally, the Bachelor's degree in Public Management will respond to the growing professionalization of public sector administration areas and offer training to both new professionals and those seeking to update their knowledge.
On the other hand, the Bachelor's degree in National Defense will address multidisciplinary topics related to defense strategy and management, geopolitics, international security, and diplomacy, focusing on international law and human rights. These new programs reaffirm UNDEF's commitment to the specialization of future professionals in the field of defense and public management.
The Rector of UNDEF, Julio César Spota, mentioned that these pioneering academic proposals will contribute to the formation of professional profiles capable of meeting the strategic demands of the State in key areas such as cybersecurity and public management with a defense focus. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the virtual modality of the Cyber Defense and Public Management programs will ensure federal and equitable access to university education.
