Current authorities are investigating the accountability of the funds allocated to the social work Osprera of the UATRE. There are questions about possible administrative irregularities in the management of these million-dollar funds, particularly concerning José Voytenco, head of the UATRE, who is being scrutinized for his lavish lifestyle.
The judiciary intervened with the third largest social work in the country, Osprera, due to alleged money laundering. This case is linked to a series of judicial and political events involving a deputy and a previous judicial intervention in March 2023. The multimillion-dollar debt and the use of public funds during that period have been questioned.
Pablo Ansaloni, a former national deputy currently in La Libertad Avanza, has been highlighted in the investigation. Concerns have been raised about the handling of the $26.090 billion received by Osprera, of which $3.350 billion was delivered last year. The flow of money through the social work, the National Registry of Rural Workers and Employers, and contracts with insurance companies is also under investigation.
The Superintendency of Health Services must prepare a report on the flow of money in Osprera. There have been 172 legal actions identified against the social work due to a lack of medications and problems with the provision of services. The judicial intervention and allegations of money laundering have generated controversy regarding the management of the funds.
Marcelo Andrada, General Secretary of UATRE in La Plata, has accused Voytenco of living a lifestyle incompatible with his union role. Luxuries such as the construction of a mansion in a country club, a collection of luxury watches, and flights on private jets have been mentioned. The judiciary continues to investigate the alleged money laundering, and the freezing of assets and bank accounts has been ordered.
The judge in charge of the case has suspended the board of Osprera and ordered control and supervision measures by the Superintendency of Health Services. The aim is to ensure the normalization of coverage services and a detailed report on the operations of the social work is required. The judicial resolution has also ordered the freezing of assets and bank accounts of José Voytenco, head of the UATRE and Osprera.
