Today, the new radical block composed of 12 members was officially presented, following the split from the UCR bench led by Rodrigo De Loredo. The new block, called "Democracy Forever," will be led by Pablo Juliano and includes Facundo Manes, Marcela Antola, Fernando Carbajal, Carla Carrizo, Mariela Coletta, Marcela Coli, Melina Giorgi, Juan Carlos Polini, Jorge Rizzotti, and Danya Tavela.
The delay in the presentation was due to internal disputes regarding leadership. "Democracy Forever" brings together deputies aligned with Manes and leaders from Evolución, the radical current linked to Senator Martín Lousteau and Emiliano Yacobitti. Despite wanting Carla Carrizo to preside over the block, the majority opinion prevailed since Manes has a greater influence among the deputies.
Carla Carrizo will hold the position of parliamentary secretary, a key role in coordination with other political forces. The vice president will be Marcela Coli, and the General Secretariat will be run by Manuel Aguirre. The departure of these 12 deputies weakened De Loredo's block, which went from 33 to 21 members.
The internal conflicts in the bench began with Javier Milei's management and intensified due to the refusal to expel the "radical peluca" members who voted in favor of government measures. After unsuccessful attempts to postpone the breakup, the differences in the leadership of the block prompted the split. The new block will seek parliamentary alliances with other opposition spaces, such as Encuentro Federal and the Civic Coalition.
