Crisis in the UCR due to deputies' vote

The UCR is facing an internal crisis after the betrayal of five deputies who voted with the government. The tension among the block members is unsustainable, leading to speculation about a possible formal split of the group.

Crisis in the UCR due to deputies' vote

Five radical deputies caused a rift in the bloc by voting against the pension increase, triggering internal tensions that led to the group's parliamentary break. These libertarian radicals, close to Javier Milei, have created an unsustainable environment for internal coexistence.

The legislators Mariano Campero, Luis Picat, José Federico Tournier, Martín Arjol, and Pablo Cervi betrayed the party by voting with the government and shielding a veto, except for Cervi, who abstained in the last vote. Due to the lack of a majority willing to expel these deputies, between 10 and 12 legislators are preparing to leave the bloc.

Some members of the dissident group still hope that the discordant deputies will reconsider, but the situation indicates an imminent diaspora. Julio Cobos proposed that the radicals sign a commitment to submit to the directives of the bloc, a measure that seems ineffective given the irreconcilable stance of the five deputies.

The possibility of a swift vote to renew authorities in the bloc reveals a clear division: the five "rebellious" parliamentarians would support De Loredo, while the "radicals in wigs" would opt for a more oppositional leadership. The exit of at least a dozen deputies seems likely, although the stance of Natalia Sarapura and Melina Giorgi is being evaluated.

Rodrigo de Loredo, the president of the bloc, faces a political dilemma in deciding whether to sacrifice the five deputies or retain them despite the consequences. The UCR is at an internal crossroads that threatens an inevitable loss scenario, amidst tensions as if a ship is heading towards an iceberg at full speed.
